rust's hall

Rust's Hall was the place to see a show in Baker before the Baker Opera House was built. It was attached to the Pacific Brewery, both owned by Henry Rust. Rust Hall opened sometime in the 1880's and was destroyed by fire in 1898.

Henry rust, a native of Germany, moved to Baker in 1867 and opened a brewery here. He then opened the Rust Opera House, the only such hall in the city. These properties were located on the 2000 block of Main Street, in approximately the location where US Bank stands today. Incidentally, the Empire theater was later constructed in nearly the same footprint as the Rust Opera House.
